Why Memphis?

Memphis is a city with much to offer! From a wide variety of incredible restaurants to a thriving arts scene to the beloved Memphis Grizzlies, Memphis is full of fun. With fun annual events like Memphis in May and the St. Jude Marathon, it’s no wonder Memphians love their city!

But like any city, Memphis is not without its struggles. During the Memphis Fellows program, you will learn about the historic and socioeconomic reasons for some of the city’s struggles, about the different neighborhoods and their uniqueness, and get to experience what it looks like for the local church to be on mission in the midst of their city. And we pray that our Fellows will cultivate a heart that is not afraid of the city but one that prays for it.

“But seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf, for in its welfare you will find your welfare.” -Jeremiah 29:7

Memphis is a city with a mission. There’s a reason why it is considered one of the most generous cities in the U.S. There is a wealth of non-profit organizations that are locally focused in Memphis. As a Fellow, you will visit and learn about organizations that are making a difference in the lives of Memphians and are changing the city for the better. You will also meet key leaders who are dedicated to making Memphis look more like God’s Kingdom. Learn more on the “Serve” tab.

Come and be an instrument of change for our city. We want to equip our Fellows to root where they are planted, embrace our city, and help make a difference. We are looking for individuals who want to serve, confront the challenges facing our city and make it a better place.

Is the Lord calling you to Memphis?
